Open the link to go to the CBB visualization app of REAL data from the U.S. Census Bureau. \u00a0The visualization criteria is percent of black-owned employer firms and percentage of black\/African-American people as a population in the selected detail – in this case all metropolitan areas in America. \u00a0You will notice that nationwide as a percentage black-owned employers is low with some areas having almost NO black-owned businesses even though there is a high percentage of black people in the detail area. \u00a0For instance, the Jackson, MS metro area has 64% black population but has a negligible amount \u00a0of black-owned businesses – either the data is unavailable, it has been suppressed, or my guess is that it is too low to show on a graph of whole numbers.<\/div>\n
