Damn! LVMPD (Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Dept.) finally got me. Up in my part of town there are several persistent police speed traps near my neighborhood. I have witnessed dozens of traps over the last few years on Centennial Center Blvd starting at Grand Montecito Blvd down to the Ann Rd intersection. I guess because this is such a booming commercial area that we have to be protected in such a manner – of course at the same time LVMPD doen’t come to assist if you have a car accident in the city. I remember last year or so police had cars stopped two or three deep on both the Azure and Tropical sides of the Centennial Center intersection. So here come my excuses… first of all, the speed limit on Centennial Center has changed recently – from 40 to 30. In fact west of Grand Montecito on Centennial Center the limit is still 40 but to the east it is 30. But I guess the car dealerships won their way to get it dropped to 30mph — in fact the speed trap uses the lot of Centennial Mazda/Toyota for the ticket stop. The radar you, flip the lights and you make a right-hand turn into the Centennial lot. Wham! Bam! Thank you, ma’am — $208 ticket. This is of course I am still hoping to avoid the other speed trap that I see consistently by the LVMPD — on North CC215 (the Bruce Woodbury Beltway aka Clark Country Rd 215) between the N Durango exit and the Oso Blanca ramps. Now at this trap, you could be coming east or west and because of the subtle curves in the road out of nowhere the black and white (LVMPD) or even the navy blue staties (the Nevada Highway Patrol) just swoop on you. I have been real luck on this one. If you come this way to the northwest just take note because it is happening. And yes, I see if in other areas too, so just slow down everyone. Don’t risk getting a ticket – keep your money in your pocket.
