Gasoline Prices :( f*ked up

I had to buy gasoline today and the sticker shock was amazing. Now as one of the Californians without a permanent car, I wince whenever I have a car and have to fill that bad boy up. I usually rent cars leisurely for personal use when I am home or through my gracious benefactor called my employer when traveling for work. I was in Chicago. where they have the highest prices in the country hands down and I do not know how people across the country go week after week to the pump and drop $50 for just a half tank without Swearing off driving only to the essentials-went and maybe the occassional relative who is on deck to pass a boat-load of cash down the line in the near future when they pass. So here I am in Chicago and having put $50 in the tank the day previous to decrease the amount I would ask my employer to pay, here I was at the station where they were this very minute changing the price of 87 regular from $4.25 to $4.35 as I watched–they had changed this very sign twice already today. TODAY! When will it Stop? let me tell you when-not anytime soon. Back home in LA I’m Still seeing the joy-riders up and down in their cars on Hollywood and Sunset Blvd’s and no one is squawking other than the people who have already squeezed the budget to a shoestring. I can only hope that with a new President (a non-Republican one that is…) we will once again pull some of that $12 Billion/day spent on Iraq and Afghanistan to make natural gas cars more widely available and of course developing technologies like nuclear directly ON-BOARD the vehicle.
