Where’s all this stammering come from?

It started with President Barrack Obama – sometimes stammering dozens of times when responding to questions or making impromptu speeches. But of late I’m seeing others stumbling through speeches or comments like they are on drugs.
The White House Press Secretary, First Lady Michelle Obama, House Speak Nancy Pelosi (D-CA)and even Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) are all people who I’ve seen the last day or so stumbling hard through comments.

Now as a person who gets up in from of crows I learned a long time ago if you’re trying to formulate a thought, there is no problem with just closing your mouth and not pushing any air out. Worse is when you’re up in front of people and the “um” or “ah” or whatever such things come flowing out of the mouth. The worst is when it happens every few words as is the case with Pres. Obama.

As a fervent Obama supporter, I think it is a little weird. Most obviously absurd for a press secretary – someone who should be trained at this sort of thing. Mrs. Obama was an attorney so debating is something she was probably trained in and that just wouldn’t cut it on the debate team. And of course the speaker and senator have both been in Congress and public life for long enough now that there should be no stammering done post the 7am conference call they probably have every morning.

Maybe I’m just used to professional politicians knowing as I do – close the mouth if the brain isn’t working for you. The “um” and “ah” type things are probably going to wear really thin over these next four years — oddly enough we’re only a month into the Obama Administration and I’m already kinda tired of it.

Come on, Mr. President. This type of thing is not showing well!!!
