I heard an interesting rumor the other day that I pray is actually true — Verizon FIOS is coming to Nevada!!!
I am exhausted with Cox‘s $60/mo high speed internet service and I have considered and dismissed CenturyLink‘s (formerly Embarq in Nevada) wobbly 10Mbps DSL internet. The sad part about Cox is that I would like to stay with them but I work from home and routinely upload large files (in the gig range) which can take 7 hours on my “premier” speed connection. The “ultimate” — the peppier 50MB/5MB service from Cox is $120/mo. Just not gonna happen on my dime! I’ll start the upload and forget it if it comes down to it.
But with Verizon’s FIoS can upload gig files in a mere hour (or tines of minutes) opposed to hours or tens of hours – and it is $64.99/mo for a 20MB upload.
Maybe the alternate rumor should be that Cox is dropping their prices or CenturyLink will do something with fiber itself instead of simply continuing the same copper build out that’s been going on for ever and ever.
One can only hope and rumor!
You heard it here first 😉
