I know I shoud not be, but I am always surprised by just how fowl people are. And I don’t always mean in how they smell 🙂 I went to the McDonald’s at Hollywood & Highland for lunch yesterday after not having a MickieD fix for quite a while. There were people everywhere as usual-the couple beggars with hands out. But what struck me most was still how mean people can be. This lady-kids in tow- right in front of the beggar said ”Why do they let them in?” and that something smelled bad. Maybe I’ve just gotten used to pan handlers having lived in Chicago and New York City and traveled all over the country and world–but I try not to make mean comments when I see someone down on his or her bad luck. Because it could be me once again out there on those mean streets. And this time I may not get through it nearly as unscathed as I did last time. Yes, dear friends, I’ve seen homelessness firsthand before — a couple times actually. Not just the “locked out of the house” homeless either but no house at all. While I never begged I had to steal and that was no fun either. So, short story-if you don’t want to spare change, that’s fine but don’t say something you wouldn’t want said to you in the same situation.
