Longing for days past

This is the new attraction at Area 15 near the Universal Horror spectacle thing. Don’t know about that but this Boeing 747 fuselage is stunning! For the millions who flew on it, like the Concorde, this gigantic plane brings back the memories of a bygone era when imagination ruled.  Yeah, SpaceX can send a rocket to space and return its mechanics back to the launchpad almost by routine unharmed, but the Concorde and 747 were thrilling because not only did you not know you would take off successfully but whether you’d eventually land successfully either. The mammoth quad engines jearred, rumbled, and thundered through takeoff. And the Concorde…damn damn damn – that thing ripped its 100 inhabitants through the sky to the point that they landed basically before they took off because of the time change (you see you took off from London or Paris at noon and landed in JFK in New York at 11am Eastern). I don’t care much for Zoom, but when you’re in Europe and need to talk to people in New York, that’s the only way to do it now without the Concorde. While these Boeing 747s were not supersonic, they were fucking awesome as they moved small cities-worth of people ten to twelve thousand miles from their origination point and did so fabulously. That iconic hump, still exists on today’s 747 but outside the US Air Foce using them to carry the President, they’ve been relegated to history in favor of more eco-friendly planes or even the Airbus A380 (I call it the Greyhound of the sky) since it has all the style and flair of a bus carrying 800 people double- decker style.
Imagination? Where’d you go…
