It seems that the last two weeks have shown us that anything is possible in the US. How we can go from being the best of the best to the cream of the shit in such a short time. It guess it happens to all the great societies that rise quickly and descend into ruin almost like no one ever was the wiser. Greece, Rome, England, China, the Ottoman Empire, Holland — all great empires in their day that shed off most of their power — and for the Ottoman Empire completely gone and the Roman Empire all but withered down to a part of a larger nation-state. And so it goes the US. Once at the head of the tide now trying hard to stay afloat and keep up with the likes of Australia or Canada. With an educational system showing the travesty that is called public education; with a collegiate system that shows all to well that money and power don’t exactly get you much if you judge by what Princeton, Harvard, and Yale are turning out these days. Crooks all, no longer the ilk of Washington, Jefferson or even Kennedy, but we’re so happy with Bush and McCain, Obama and Feinstein. Sure I see the difference between the two former and the two latter, but at some point anyone who wants to serve in this government needs to have his or her head examined for signs of megalomania or some psychiatric disturbance. I was watching the Bill Maher show on HBO last night and was struck by just how stupid the so-called “smart” people are. If they’re the ones we need to turn to no wonder we’re in this mess. I don’t fault the dumbass who knows they don’t know anything and will tell you it, but for the people who know where the bodies are buried and chose to say nothing I have no respect for them. Yeah, I guess it is just the way the world is right now. I hope it hurries up and changes! I’ll just have to save my rant about wireless providers for another post. Now that will be interesting….
