By Rebecca Traister On Friday, November 27, a 57-year-old white man named Robert Louis Dear allegedly injured nine people and killed three in a shooting spree at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs. Among those shot were four police officers, one of whom died. As several media outlets and many on social media noted, Dear was given the opportunity to surrender peacefully, just like convicted mass shooter James Holmes, and alleged […]

Black Lightning on CW TV

CW and Greg Berlanti expand the footprint of their DC Comics universe with this exploration of the intersection between family life and being a superhero. As a younger man, Jefferson Pierce donned the suit of a vigilante and protected the streets of his city, but he believed he’d left those days in the past. He learns that life doesn’t always work out as planned when his daughter, Jennifer — a star student who is determined to achieve justice at any cost — gets recruited by a street gang. In order to protect his family, Jefferson sees no choice but to […]

Sprint Corp (NYSE: S) downgraded to JUNK

As a Sprint customer I have had very little luck getting help through their Customer Service teams (lots of online chats and telephone calls seem to go nowhere) I realize that the only thing companies like these care about is their market cap decreases. This is why I say DUMP your Sprint Corp NYSE: S stock — it is almost near worthless anyway 😉 Now remember, this company is nearly 120 years old. A company that has changed so much that you don’t even recognize it from even just 10 years ago. Since SoftBank one of Japan and Asia’s largest […]

Sprint – how can I give you a negative stars?

I have had Sprint once before and for a mobile company their service is about as par for the course as you can get. Sometimes pretty good, sometimes pretty bad – but I’ve had ’em all AT&T is good 50-50, Verizon 50-50 and T-Mobile… well I hear they’ve gotten better. But Sprint’s phone service is not bad it is their overseas customer service. Now I am not knocking overseas call centers at all, sometimes they work as they are supposed to, but many times it is not just the language barrier that is the problem. Overseas call center employees many […]

Discount Tire experience

Based on this last experience I have to say something went wrong in the service bay.   This used to be my go to store – I have bought 4 tires and wheels here before and usually have no problems; this time I come in after lunch on a Tuesday for a simple patch of a slow leak problem.  2.5 hours later (including a visit to Starbucks and the AM/PM gas station in fact) I leave and while the leak I hope is fixed they did not set it to the correct tire pressure.  The TPMS indicator was still on which should […]

Imagine if everyone were single

And whenever they wanted a roll in the “hay” you had to get up off your DUFF, get gussied up for an outing in which you had to approach a stranger in attempts to make some whooppie. Could you see that world?  Probably much prettier people than this one  and many who were UP for the challenge.

Student loan refinancing

A couple years ago the federal government allowed for student loan refinancing – not just consolidation through the Dept of Education.  I have consolidated my loans and wow I wish I had never done that, but last year I refinanced to a private lender and I have to say it was painless and pretty quick; I have saved money because my interest rate is less than the DoE’s normal student loan rate of 8.25%.  In essence anything under that is savings so when I got a 4.25% rate that saves quite a bit of money which makes the principal go […]
