I heard an interesting rumor the other day that I pray is actually true — Verizon FIOS is coming to Nevada!!! I am exhausted with Cox‘s $60/mo high speed internet service and I have considered and dismissed CenturyLink‘s (formerly Embarq in Nevada) wobbly 10Mbps DSL internet. The sad part about Cox is that I would like to stay with them but I work from home and routinely upload large files (in the gig range) which can take 7 hours on my “premier” speed connection. I subscribed to Clear mobile broadband a couple weeks ago. Since Sprint couldn’t get their act together for me, I decided to jump ship. Clear is the mega partnership between Google, Sprint, Comcast, et al. Reported by engadget earlier this year, and confirmed by Google , the firm is getting ready to launch 1Gbps ISP service to select markets at ‘competitive prices’ (– hint hint ClearWire, owner of Clear).
