$700 Billion would buy a lot of soap

I’ve pondered over the last few days the financial market plan in the Congress and listened to the many partisan comments on C-SPAN, MSNBC and CNBC. I was amazed that this guy calls in and says this is a Democratic power grab. Albeit I am more surprised how many political pundits don’t call out the STUPID people when they see them. You know what? I think they have just given up because they don’t want to look like Rush or Don Imus for sometime telling the truth. No one knows what’s going to happen, not no one. Whether the Congress/President […]

Just give me my money!

OK. I was stupid when I took the bait from Washington Mutual Bank a couple weeks ago and opened a pair of new accounts. Now I am a little bit more than anxious with the closure of WaMu by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC). Then we hear the mid-week action by the insurance authority has brokered an asset-only sale to JP Morgan Chase. So now WaMu is part of JPMC to create an even larger Chase Bank. Oh, I can only remember when Chase was a much smaller bank, before it was gobbled up by the venerable Chemical Bank […]

HP’s 210 Enterprise PDA

I’ve had quite a few PDA’s (Personal Digital Assistants). Starting out in the 90s with an Apple Newton, then moving to a Palm V, then a couple other things that I have even forgotten. But for the last few years I’ve used a Windows Mobile device – two to be exact. One just an earlier model of the one I have now. Since the days of the Newton, these little devices have really changed what we’re doing. Of couse smartphones are great tools, but sometimes I like whipping out my little computer and writting on the screen, forcing more than […]

Avalon Harbor on Catalina Island

Catalina Islanta is a quaint little island off the coast of Los Angeles near Long Beach. It is home to year-around tourist’ing and even many permanent residents. It is a great place to take friends visiting from out of town who want to see laid back southern California life with a cosmo feel. The best way to get there if you don’t own your own boat:Catalina Express

Keeping the blog up to date

Now I’ve been a tech person for all my adult life and even a little before, but I have to say that some of this upgrading is hard to make work simply because many different developers create the application, the application’s plug-ins, and others design/build other widgets to extend the base function of the blog. I just updated a particular plug-in and when it is activated it goes complete ape-shit. Then when I look around, it is starting to look like I never had it installed correctly in the first case. I didn’t really use it. It was one of […]

Wireless providers and financial bailouts

It seems that the last two weeks have shown us that anything is possible in the US. How we can go from being the best of the best to the cream of the shit in such a short time. It guess it happens to all the great societies that rise quickly and descend into ruin almost like no one ever was the wiser. Greece, Rome, England, China, the Ottoman Empire, Holland — all great empires in their day that shed off most of their power — and for the Ottoman Empire completely gone and the Roman Empire all but withered […]

Azuma washer and dryer leasing

Since I moved into the house a little over a month ago I’ve been batting around the washer and dryer I want to buy. I started out thinking about the front-loading units. I quickly came to the realization that spending $2000 on a washer/dryer combo to wash clothes generally once or twice a month was major overkill — with a capital O. Then I came across Azuma leasing and found an economical choice around $35/month for both. This is not a permanent solution for me, probably only until Christmas, but it is really handy and the units are outstanding for […]
